Kendrapada Zilla Vikash Parishad was formed in 2003. This organization was formed mainly by the people of Kendrapada living in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The organization aims to address three key issues . First, people are forced to leave their hometowns to pursue careers and higher studies. But staying outside does not mean forgetting their hometowns. Even while staying away from their place of birth, they can contribute significantly to the development work of their region in various ways. Sometimes, they can contribute to collective endeavours and at others, they can help people individually. To participate in development process one’s mindset and not their geographical locations are important. For this reason, the Kendrapada Zilla Vikash Parishad has been formed by the people belonging to Kendrapada living elsewhere.

Secondly, emotional connection and brotherhood are important. Belonging to one district and living elsewhere, everyone is busy with their own lives. People don’t find the time to get to know each other properly. This is a problem everyone is increasingly becoming aware of. What is now needed is people of our area sitting together frequently in spite of their busy schedules. This deepens emotional connection and fosters a feeling of brotherhood. In all this what ultimately matters is not one’s financial or social position, but one’s sense of identity – Being a Kendrapadia.

Thirdly, we must try to our best to contribute to the development of our district. Since we were born in that area and have experience in various fields, we have tried to prepare a blueprint for the development of the district. The council has already made efforts in that direction. A vision document has been prepared for the development of the district. Many members of the Parishad have been contributing to the development of their own areas through individual initiatives and will continue to do so. The Parishad has been also making efforts at various times to showcase the cultural richness of the district.
